The BEST French Toast Recipe! Fluffy and tender on the inside, brunette on the outside gloriously. This basic recipe has many, fancy variations.
This French Toast recipe works with a lot of bread types-white, whole wheat, cinnamon-raisin, Italian or French. Use butter and maple syrup to serve hot.
Thick slices of bread, soaked in a mixture of milk and cinnamon beaten eggs, toasted in a skillet and served with butter and maple syrup.
This must be one of our favorite and most indulgent breakfast recipes.
BEST BREAD FOR FRENCH TOAST:
If you work with thick French or Italian loaf bread slices that are several days old, French toast comes out best.
They had a chance to firm up that way, which will make the slices hold better
when you dip them in the mixture of egg milk and fry them.
When you do this, thin slices of fresh bread tend to fall apart or become mushy, making French toast for lousy.
FRENCH TOAST INFORMATION
Many people love to sprinkle their French toast with powdered sugar! Personally, I think the maple syrup contains plenty of sugar, so I don’t mind adding more.
Orange zest and Triple Sec:
One of my favorite variations, is to add some orange zest and some Triple Sec orange liqueur to the extra zing batter.
